HWID Spoofing Guides
How Anti-Cheat Detects Hardware (2026)
How does anti cheat detect hardware? It reads SMBIOS serials, disk and volume IDs, your MAC and MachineGuid, then matches them as one composite fingerprint
NBA 2K26 brings EAC hardware checks to the PC court. TraceX Spoofer is a free permanent HWID spoofer that rewrites identifiers once, then can be deleted.

Player reports quote the NBA 2K26 ban screen as saying they "used an unauthorized software program in connection with 2K26"; the message confirms a sanction, while the same result across different 2K Sports Accounts on one PC is the stronger device-ban signal.
Hardware Coverage
NBA 2K26's anti-cheat silently reads dozens of hardware identifiers from your PC while it's running — long before you reach a match. Learn how EasyAntiCheat works in NBA 2K26 and why it's difficult to bypass without a spoofer. Below is a sample of the identifiers being tracked.
| Hardware Identifier | NBA 2K26 Tracks | TraceX Rewrites |
|---|---|---|
| CPU / CPUID Profile | Yes | Yes |
| SMBIOS Type 2 / Motherboard UUID | Yes | Yes |
| GPU Device Identifier | Yes | Yes |
| Physical Disk / Volume Serials | Yes | Yes |
| Physical NIC MAC Addresses | Yes | Yes |
| Windows MachineGuid | Yes | Yes |
Reality Check
And when they're denied — which is almost always for HWID bans — your hardware stays permanently blacklisted. No second chances.
“Player accounts or devices may be permanently banned immediately if the severity of their infraction is significant, the volume of content uploaded, created, or shared by them that violates the policy is high, or the volume of complaints received about them is high.”
2K Support — "NBA 2K: Player Code of Conduct" (updated September 29, 2025), support.nba2k.com
Why You Need This
You launch NBA 2K26 through Steam to take your MyPLAYER into The City, but the ban screen says you used an "unauthorized software program in connection with 2K26." MyCAREER never reaches a Park court, and MyTEAM's Triple Threat Park is out too. You reinstall the client, sign into another 2K Sports Account, and see the same result on this PC. That pattern matters more than the wording. An account sanction follows the login; device enforcement can keep recognizing the board, storage, Windows, and network profile EAC reads before online play.
NBA 2K26's Steam page identifies Easy Anti-Cheat as kernel-level protection, lists Denuvo Anti-tamper separately, and requires a 2K Sports Account. Those layers do different jobs: Denuvo protects the executable, while EAC and 2K's Game Security work on cheating and unauthorized third-party software. 2K's Player Code of Conduct goes further than an account-only warning. It says a player's "account or device" may be suspended or banned and that devices may be permanently banned for a significant infraction. The on-screen unauthorized-software notice does not, by itself, reveal whether 2K sanctioned the account, the device, or both. Check the support record first; repeat enforcement tied to one PC is the stronger HWID pattern.
EAC does not publish a field-by-field NBA 2K26 fingerprint, so treating one serial as the HWID would be false precision. The concrete Windows collection surfaces include the SMBIOS Type 2 baseboard serial and motherboard UUID; physical-disk descriptors and serials returned through storage IOCTLs such as IOCTL_STORAGE_QUERY_PROPERTY; separate volume serials; physical NIC MAC addresses; and MachineGuid at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography. TPM 2.0 endorsement-key material and Secure Boot state can add hardware-rooted identity or boot-integrity signals, but public EAC material does not prove that this NBA 2K26 integration uploads or weights each one. A reinstall can rotate MachineGuid and a volume serial while the board, drive firmware, MAC, and TPM-rooted values survive. A new SSD or VPN changes even less of the composite.
The cross-game blast radius is exposure, not an automatic universal ban. NBA 2K26 presents the same classes of machine values that EAC can see in Fortnite, Rust, Apex Legends, and other EAC titles, so an unchanged PC can remain recognizable across integrations. Each publisher still controls its own enforcement; a 2K device ban does not instantly ban every EAC game. TraceX Spoofer addresses that reusable profile with a permanent rewrite of its supported identifiers. Complete the one-time setup, run TraceX once, then delete the tool. A temporary session spoofer has to present substitute values again after reboot, while the TraceX rewrite persists without a resident process. Neither model restores the sanctioned 2K Sports Account or replaces the official appeal route.
Verified
2K Support's "NBA 2K: Player Code of Conduct," updated September 29, 2025, states: "Player accounts or devices may be permanently banned immediately if the severity of their infraction is significant." Steam's NBA 2K26 page separately lists Easy Anti-Cheat as kernel-level protection, making both the device policy and the PC protection layer independently checkable.
Why TraceX
You shouldn't need to replace your PC to play NBA 2K26 again. That's why TraceX exists.
Run TraceX once before opening NBA 2K26 through Steam. The rewrite persists, so you can delete the tool before EasyAntiCheat starts.
NBA 2K26's hardware ban (hwid) is tied to the profile EasyAntiCheat reads. Rewritten identifiers persist across reboots without a TraceX daemon.
For NBA 2K26, the documented EasyAntiCheat coverage includes CPU / CPUID Profile, SMBIOS Type 2 / Motherboard UUID, GPU Device Identifier. TraceX rewrites the supported fields in one pass.
NBA 2K26 launches from Steam after the rewrite is complete. No TraceX process remains during EasyAntiCheat gameplay to consume resources.
NBA 2K26's hardware ban (hwid) details stay separate from the current EasyAntiCheat status, so a game update is never treated as unchanged by default.
When you open NBA 2K26 with 2K Sports Account + Steam account, EasyAntiCheat reads the supported identifiers produced by the completed permanent rewrite.
Setup Guide
Getting around a NBA 2K26 HWID ban used to take hours — reinstalling Windows, flashing BIOS, wiping drivers, re-downloading everything, and praying it worked. One wrong step meant starting over and burning another account. With TraceX, a single click does more than all of that combined.

Detection Analysis
EasyAntiCheat can combine identifiers from your PC into a hardware profile for NBA 2K26. TraceX rewrites the supported fields shown below before the game runs.
When you launch NBA 2K26, your real hardware IDs are scanned and matched against ban records. Every new account on a flagged PC is blocked.
NBA 2K26 sees a completely new machine with no ban history. New account, clean hardware — access granted.

FAQ
2K's own Player Code of Conduct says an account or device may be suspended or banned and that a device may be permanently banned immediately for a significant infraction. Steam also lists kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat for NBA 2K26. That proves device enforcement is within 2K's policy, but it does not mean every unauthorized-software notice is automatically an HWID ban; some sanctions can remain account-only.
No. A Game Security Violation, EAC initialization failure, or authentication error can be a launch-integrity problem rather than a ban. 2K's official EAC guidance tells players to update Windows, essential drivers, and hardware-control software such as RGB utilities before reporting launch trouble. A sanction is stronger evidence when it appears in the 2K account record or ban screen and continues to follow the same PC.
A different account changes the login, not the machine inputs available when EAC initializes. The PC still presents its baseboard and motherboard UUID, storage serials, Windows identity, physical network adapters, and platform-security state. If 2K associated a composite of those values with enforcement, another account on the unchanged machine can still look related. The account switch alone does not diagnose which field matched.
EAC does not publish an NBA 2K26 field list or weighting formula. Relevant Windows surfaces include the SMBIOS Type 2 baseboard serial, motherboard UUID, physical-disk serials exposed through storage IOCTLs, separate volume serials, physical NIC MAC addresses, and MachineGuid under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography. TPM 2.0 endorsement-key material and Secure Boot state may add trust signals, but neither is confirmed as a universal 2K26 ban key.
None is a reliable reset. Reinstalling NBA 2K26 replaces game files only. A Windows reinstall can rotate MachineGuid and a filesystem volume serial, while the SMBIOS board serial, motherboard UUID, physical-drive firmware serials, NIC MAC addresses, and TPM-rooted material normally remain. Replacing one SSD changes one storage input and leaves the rest of the composite profile available for comparison.
No. A VPN changes the public IP and network route seen by online services. It does not rewrite the SMBIOS baseboard serial, motherboard UUID, physical-disk or volume serials, MachineGuid, a physical adapter's MAC address, TPM identity, or Secure Boot state. A VPN may help isolate an ordinary routing problem, but it does not create a new hardware profile and should not be treated as an HWID-ban fix.
Use 2K Support's official ticket route and include the exact message, platform, date, affected 2K Sports Account, and any relevant account-security evidence. 2K's policy invites players who believe they were banned in error to contact customer service. It also says temporary bans cannot be removed or shortened and expire automatically. A review can correct an error, but neither a ticket nor a hardware rewrite guarantees that 2K will restore the sanctioned account.
2K does not publish a separate universal countdown for NBA 2K26 hardware bans. Its Player Code of Conduct says accounts or devices may be suspended or banned and that a device may be permanently banned immediately when an infraction is significant. Treat a confirmed permanent device sanction as indefinite unless 2K overturns it. Do not borrow a timer from a forum post or confuse it with a temporary account suspension that shows its own expiry.
No automatic roster-wide ban is documented. NBA 2K26, Fortnite, Rust, and Apex Legends use EAC integrations capable of seeing the same classes of board, storage, Windows, network, and platform-trust signals. That creates cross-game fingerprint exposure when one PC presents the same values. Each publisher still administers its own sanctions, so a 2K device ban does not become a universal EAC ban by default.
A temporary session spoofer presents substitute values only while its driver or process is active, so the original profile returns after reboot and the tool must run again. TraceX Spoofer uses a one-time permanent rewrite of the supported identifier set. Complete setup once, run TraceX, then delete the tool; no resident daemon or per-boot session remains. The rewrite does not restore a banned 2K Sports Account or replace 2K's appeal process.
